Functional Engineering Plastics

Depending on the specific application, the specific function of the engineering plastic material is imparted by some means (for example, adding a functional additive), and the obtained plastic material is called a functional engineering plastic. There are many types of functional engineering plastic materials and a wide range of applications.

The School of Textile and Materials Engineering of Dalian University of Technology and Dalian Luyang Technology Development Co., Ltd. prepared polyetheretherketone (PEEK)/multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) composites by injection molding. The introduction of hydroxyl and carboxyl groups can significantly improve the composites. The performance of the interface improves the interface, and as the content of MWCNTs increases, the surface resistivity and wear of the composites decrease significantly, and the mechanical properties are significantly improved.

After MWCNTs-COOH was added, the percolation phenomenon occurred, the percolation value was 3%, the surface resistivity was 1.89×10~6 Ω, the friction coefficient was reduced, the load carrying capacity was more than doubled, and the MWCNTs-COOH mass fraction was 4%. The amount is 0.6mg, which is 71.4% lower than pure PEEK, and the overall performance is optimal.
