Fakuma 2018 Introduces High Quality Plastics Processing Solutions
Coperion and Coperion K-Tron will launch high-quality plastics processing solutions – especially in the upcoming October Fakuma 2018 efficient feeding of bulk materials into composite processes. The Coperion ZS-B side feeder and electronic pressure compensation (EPC) system were on display.
The Coperion ZS-B twin-screw side feeder reliably feeds fillers and additives in powder or pellet form, or cuts glass fibers into the process part of a twin-screw extruder.
The ZS-B has a self-cleaning profile with a twin screw and the product enters the screw threads of the extruder with no stagnant areas. Due to its compact design, it requires very little space.
The side feeder is equipped with a patented FET feed enhancement technology developed by Coperion that applies a vacuum to the feed zone through a porous gas permeable wall. The resulting gas extraction triples the material’s ability to inhale the feed during processing. The pass rate will greatly increase d and it is possible to use finer/non-compressed packing.
At the show, Coperion K-Tron will showcase its EPC system for high-precision weightless feeders. The main advantages of the new system include improved accuracy and reliability, reduced initial cost and simplified installation compared to traditional mechanical pressure compensation systems.
It is an ingenious but simple electronic solution that provides precise and stable pressure compensation in the hopper and outlet. The modular design includes pressure sensors and electronics to smoothly interact with Coperion K-Tron’s KCM feeder control system.
In addition, retrofit options for existing feeders are available. EPC can be installed on most Coperion K-Tron gravity feeders in almost all app
