World Cup Trophy, How to Make Trophies?
The 2022 World Cup is in full swing in Qatar. In addition to the wonderful events, the World Cup trophy is also a topic of concern. Maybe some people are curious about how it was made?
To build this 36cm high cup, FIFA used 4.97kg 18K pure gold as the main body of the cup, and two layers of malachite were used as the base, with a total weight of 6.2kg.
Besides World Cup trophy, how those trophies are manufactured in our daily life? In this video, we will mainly talk about the manufacturing process of several types of trophies.
1.Metal trophy
Metal trophies are generally made of silver, copper, stainless steel, iron and other materials. Metal trophies are composed of a base and a main body. Common main processes include metal spinning and metal casting.
Metal spinning is usually cold working. There are several different metal spinning technologies, including CNC spinning, manual spinning, hydraulic assisted spinning and hot spinning. Metal spinning is a technology that forms flat metal plates (usually bronze or brass) into bowls, cups, round cup bases and other elements. Of course, metal spinning can also be mechanically assisted by a lathe.
Casting metal is a thermal process. It involves the production and use of custom molds, and is most commonly used to make statues and shapes that cannot be made with metal spinning and other technologies. The metal of the cup is heated to a very high temperature and then cast into a mold. When the metal hardens, the parts can be put together. Any necessary finishes can be applied.
There are many coloring processes for metal trophies, including electroplating, painting and other processes, so the appearance is beautiful and diverse.
2.Crystal trophy
In recent years, the crystal trophy can be said to be the most popular trophy among the public. It is polished through ten fine processes, namely, cutting, pressing, rough polishing, fine polishing, punching, carving, sandblasting, viscose, quality inspection and packaging. Therefore, it presents a crystal clear and smooth hand feeling effect, and can give out different effects under the irradiation of different lights, and has a high beauty value, which is popular with the public.
3.Acrylic trophy
At present, there are two common ways to make acrylic trophies: one is to use special acrylic equipment and machines for cutting, the other is to make a mold and then use acrylic granular raw materials for injection molding. Because acrylic trophies are small quantities of handicrafts, they are usually made by cutting with acrylic equipment. Its main production processes include cutting, carving, polishing, bonding, silk screen printing, UV printing, etc. After these processes, a crystal clear, high-end and high-quality acrylic trophy will be presented.
4.Wooden Tropy
Wooden trophies remained favourite of people belonging to all economic strata. Natural grains, veins, patterns, colours, and styles are parts of wooden beauty that none can resist to praise.
It requires cutting of different trophy parts according to the design of each piece from the whole raw woods. Mostly, trophy bases are in rectangular, square, circular, oval, or custom shapes. The next step is surface finishing. The process of polishing of woods in the trophy making remains the same as the furniture making process. The process of varnishing & printing or colouring also remains similar to furniture making.
5.Resin Trophy
Resin presents an opportunity to make lighter, more detailed and less expensive molded trophies and awards than those made of wood, metal or acrylic. When the clarity and translucence of acrylic or glass is not required, resin is a good choice.
Molded out of oil-based resins and often hand painted, the process of creating a mold has improved over time to the extent that finer details and subtle differences in texture can now be captured. Many toys and action figures are molded out of resin as it is perhaps the most child-friendly trophy material and least likely to break or cause abrasion to human skin.
In addition, there are some other trophies made of glass, or synthetic materials. If you want to know more about the manufacturing process of the trophy, please feel free to subcribe our channel and leave us message.
