Covestro Aims To Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions By 50% By 2025

In terms of sustainable development, Zhou Binbin, president of Covestro’s polycarbonate business unit, stressed: “Sustainability is a very important strategic pillar for Covestro’s R&D and corporate strategy, and it has penetrated into different parts. Not our slogan, we set a very important goal to reduce specific greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2025.”

Covestro achieves sustainability from the entire workflow. At present, the steam and electricity consumption of the Shanghai integrated base has been reduced by 15%, and the office has reduced electricity consumption by 50% due to the use of LED lights. Zhou Binbin pointed out that 80% of the company’s new R&D products and technologies must be closely integrated with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, not just reducing emissions and saving energy.
