BASF Expands 3D Printing Field Layout
BASF New Industries Ltd. (BNB) has acquired the entire share capital of Advanc3D Materials in Hamburg, Germany, and Setup Performance SAS in Lyon, France. Advanc3D Materials has advanced custom plastic powders, formulations and process expertise for Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology. The production site in Lyon, France, is the most important partner for Advanc3D Materials in the development and production of SLS materials. BASF is incorporating the two companies into its subsidiary BASF 3D Printing Solutions (B3DPS). This acquisition is an important step in BASF’s expansion of its layout in 3D printing.
Dr. Dietmar Bender, Vice President of Production and Technology, BASF New Industries Co., Ltd. said: “After BASF acquired Innofil3D last year, our market position in the field of plastic wire for layered extrusion has increased. We are now in the same way. Entering the market for powder bed melt molding. This product portfolio is perfectly suited for polyamide 11, polyamide 12 and polypropylene, complementing our existing product portfolio.” In April of this year, BASF 3D Printing Solutions launched A new polyamide PA6 material for selective laser sintering, which is easily processed on most SLS machines currently on the market.
