Mould Manufacturing Finishing Process – Electric Machining Control

The modern mold factory can not be lack of electrical processing, electrical processing can be all kinds of special-shaped, high-hardness parts for processing, it is divided into two kinds of wire cutting and EDM.

The walking wire cutting accuracy can reach ±0.003mm and the roughness Ra0.2μm. At the beginning of processing, it is necessary to check the condition of the machine to check the deionization degree, water temperature, verticality of the wire, tension and other factors of the water to ensure a good processing state. Wire-cutting is the removal of a whole piece of material. It destroys the original stress balance of the workpiece and can easily cause stress concentration, especially at the corners. Therefore, when R<0.2 (especially the sharp angle), it should be The design department made suggestions for improvement. The method of processing stress concentration during processing can use the principle of vector translation, leaving a margin of about 1 mm before finishing, pre-processing the approximate shape, and then heat treatment to allow the processing stress to be released before finishing to ensure thermal stability.

When processing the punch, the selection of the cutting position and path of the wire should be carefully considered. The use of perforated threading has the best effect. High-precision wire cutting, usually with four passes, guarantees part quality. When processing a tapered die, in the fast and efficient position, the first pass of the straight edge is roughed, the second pass is taper, and then the straight edge is finished. This eliminates the need for X-segment vertical finishing. Finishing the straight edge of the cutting edge section saves both time and cost.

Electro-discharge machining requires the production of electrodes first, and the electrodes have rough and fine points. Finishing electrodes require good shape conformity and are best processed with CNC CNC machining. The electrode material selection, copper electrode is mainly used for general steel processing. The Cu-W alloy electrode has a good overall performance, especially the consumption during processing is obviously lower than that of copper. With a sufficient amount of scouring fluid, it is suitable for the processing of difficult-to-machine materials and the finishing of complex-shaped parts. When the electrode is produced, the amount of electrode gap and the number of electrodes need to be calculated. When the large-area or heavy-electrode processing is performed, the workpiece and the electrode are clamped firmly so as to ensure sufficient strength and prevent the loosening of the process. When deep-step processing is performed, attention must be paid to the loss of the electrodes everywhere and the arc discharge caused by poor discharge.
