Mold Design Process And Factors To Consider

Mold design refers to the digital design of the enterprise mold, including the cavity mold and the cold die. On the basis of the traditional mold design, the digital design tool is fully applied to improve the mold design quality and shorten the mold design cycle. The mold design requires accurate size and smooth surface; reasonable structure, high production efficiency and easy automation; easy to manufacture, high life and low cost; design meets the needs of the process and is economical and reasonable.

When designing the mold, fully understand the characteristics of the molding material. The general process of design work is: initial review → basic drawing design of molded product → gold structure design → part drawing design → inspection drawing → drawing. If the information provided by the customer is incomplete, you need to contact the customer to obtain all the information.

The drawing work of the mold design needs to be based on the core and the cavity detail table, whether there is any missing design part, whether the gold type is suitable, and whether the setting of the parting surface is correct or not.

The structure design and parameter selection of the mold must consider factors such as rigidity, guiding, unloading mechanism, positioning method, and gap size. The consumables on the mold should be easily replaced. For plastic molds and die-casting molds, it is also necessary to consider a reasonable casting system, molten plastic or metal flow state, and the position and orientation of the entering cavity. Generally, the molds we design and manufacture should have wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, good toughness and fatigue fracture resistance.

When designing the mold, try to use a flat surface, which is easy to process and has no bad shape. The ejector area is as large as possible, because the small ejector holes are difficult to machine.
